Rwenzori Mountain National Park

Mountain Rwenzori lies in western Uganda along the Uganda-Congo border which is one and half hour drive in a private vehicle and possible to use a plane from kasese. Rwenzori Mountain is located within the mountains of the moon where its area of conservation is in Virunga national park, and equatorial snow peaks include the third highest point in Africa, while the lower slopes are blanketed in moorland, bamboo and rich, moist montane forest. The national park hosts 70 mammals and 217 bird species including 19 Albertine Rift endemics, as well as some of the world’s rarest vegetation and it covers almost 1000sq km and strides across the district of kabarole.
