10 DAYS RWANDA GORILLA SAFARI

DAY 1: Arrival

Arrival at Kigali international airport , meet and greet our professional driver guide  and our representative from Karisimbi Tours Africa   who will give you detailed briefing about the trip before the day ends according to the time of arrival later proceed to your accommodation of your choice  for Dinner and Overnight at mille Collines hotel or park inn by Radisson blue. 

DAY 2 DRIVE TO NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK ON THE WAY VISIT MUSEUMS

An early morning breakfast is followed by a drive to Nyungwe forest one of the biggest national park that have boosted the tourism industry ,  On the way nyungwe you have a visit to one the cultural museums  which is  Nyanza King’s Palace, and the National Museum of Butare. Lunch en-route. At your choice of accommodation and late evening dinner and overnight stay at nyungwe top view Hotel.

DAY 3 CHIMPAZEE TREKKING NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK

This Early morning we enter the lush rainforest in the search of the chimpanzee. Around 300 bird species, 24 of which are regional endemics and over 100 varieties of orchids and butterflies can be seen in this beautiful forest. In the afternoon we have the opportunity to explore the area. In the afternoon you have the opportunity to relax at the lodge or go birding in the area. And get back for overnight stay.  Dinner and overnight stay at nyungwe top view Hotel.

DAY 4 VISIT CANOPY WALK LATER DRIVE TO LAKE KIVU KIBUYE

This morning we have the chance to view the forest from a canopy walkway. We will have a 45 minute walk into the forest and then walk above the tree tops on a suspended bridge. This gives excellent views of one of African’s largest temperate rainforests and offers the opportunity to view primates and birds at eye level. In the afternoon we drive to Kibuye on the shores of the beautiful Lake Kivu (4 hours). In the afternoon you have the opportunity to kick back and relax in and around the lodge dinner and overnight Inn on the lake hotel.

DAY 5 MORNING BOAT CRUISE KIBUYE LAKE KIVU LATER DRIVE TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK.

In the morning after breakfast we will drive from Kibuye to Gisenyi later drive to volcanoes allowing us to take in the beauty of Lake Kivu and the multiple islands. We will have lunch in Gisenyi before driving to Volcanoes National Park. The Volcanoes National Park protects the steep slopes of this magnificent mountain range and the rich mosaic of montane ecosystems, which embrace evergreen, bamboo forests, open grassland, swamp and heath.

Volcanoes National Park is situated in north-western Rwanda. Best known for the mountain gorillas, other mammals that reside in the park are the golden monkey, black-fronted duiker, buffalo, spotted hyena and bush buck. There are 178 recorded bird species with at least 13 species and 16 subspecies endemic to the Virunga and Rwenzori Mountains. Overnight at your hotel of choice for dinner and overnight at mountain gorilla view lodge /five volcanoes hotel.

DAY 6 GORILLAS TREKKING VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast we take a short drive to Park Headquarters and meet with excellent local guides and trackers who will give a talk on the etiquette of gorilla trekking. We then hike into the forest to search the rare mountain gorillas the trekking can take from 1 to 6 hours and climb to altitudes not in excess of 7,500 feet. The terrain is rough and at times muddy. Although the hike is physically demanding the beauty of the forest and surrounding scenery make the trekking worthwhile.

Once the gorillas are located all fatigue is forgotten, as the experience is often described as being the most profound natural history experience in the world. Picnic lunches are provided and it is important to take plenty of water. Cameras and plenty of fast speed film are recommended. It can rain at a few minutes’ notice; hence waterproof clothing is a good essential including waterproof bag for cameras and film. Please note: plastic (e.g. carrier / shopping) bags are illegal in Rwanda later return to your accommodation of your choice for dinner and overnight at mountain gorilla view lodge /classic hotel.

DAY 7 VISIT BUHANGA ECO PARK &EVENING VISIT  Gorilla Guardian VILLAGE.

After early morning breakfast drive straight to Buhanga Eco Park Where the kings of yore were enthroned ,  it’s just a short drive from volcanoes national park is a hidden treasure packed with a great deal of biological and cultural significance. The location is built on an ancient sacred site that was used for coronation rituals of Rwandan kings.

The forest takes on a different dimension depending on the time of day, season of year and weather conditions , after return for lunch  and refreshment at your  hotel then visit iby’iwacu   culture village where you will meet and  interact with local people through  having opportunity to encounter the eight distinct dances including the popular Intore dance, explore how to drum in Rwandan style or visit traditional healer’s place, visit the Batwa in Rwanda later return to you accommodation of your choice for dinner and overnight stay at mountain gorilla view lodge /classic hotel.

DAY 8   MORNING VISIT TO MUSANZE CAVES AND DRIVE BACK TO KIGALI

This morning we have the opportunity to explore musanze caves on of the top tourists attraction in musanze, the caves are generally cold and quite on the inside with streams of water slowly flowing out of the rocky walls to holes of underneath. It usually takes between one to two hours to complete exploring the caves we drive back to Kigali this afternoon. Overnight at accommodation of your choice Dinner and Overnight at mille collines hotel or park inn by Radisson blue.

DAY 9 KIGALI SIGHTING TOUR AND RELAX

This morning we have Kigali city sighting tour, where you have an opportunity to visit a thriving city of Kigali including a visit to the Genocide Memorial Centre and other cultural sites like Richard kandt museum. Dinner and overnight at accommodation of your choice. Dinner and Overnight at mille collines hotel or park inn by Radisson blue.

DAY 10   VISIT KAPLAKI CRAFT SHOPS AND KIMIRONKO MARKET LATER TRANSFER TO THE AIRPORT FOR DEPARTURE

After your morning breakfast as you’re getting ready for departure you will have an opportunity to visit one of the craft shops  kaplaki  and kimironko market for shopping later return for lunch as you  check out  In the afternoon you are transferred to the airport for your international departure flight home.  End of the trip.
