1 Day Kigali City Tour

DAY 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

This morning at 10:00am your guide will pick you up from the guesthouse and transfer you to Inzora rooftop café for breakfast. Thereafter you will start your Kigali city tour.

Peacefully nestled along picturesque hilltops, Kigali is a thriving African city immediately notable for its cleanliness, orderliness, and hospitality.

Kigali is a great place to begin or end any Rwanda journey, as it’s conveniently located in the geographic center of the country. The city is clean and safe, with extremely welcoming people. Travelers will enjoy exploring the great cultural activities – including several award-winning museums, burgeoning music scene, and some of East Africa’s most memorable dining experiences. This tour will take you to the following sites.

Kigali Genocide memorial site (Est. Visit Time 1hr30min)

The Kigali Memorial exists as a permanent memorial to those who became victim to the genocide in 1994. It deals with a topic of international importance, with far-reaching significance, and is designed to engage and challenge an international visitor base.  Here you will be able to visit the three permanent exhibitions, the largest of which documents the genocide in 1994 and pay tribute to the victims of the genocide.

Campaign Against Genocide Museum (Est. Visit Time 1hr30min)

This campaign against Genocide Museum was opened officially on 13th December, 2017 by H.E Paul Kagame.

CAG Museum is built in the Parliamentary building which was once known as Conseil National de Development because this building hosted the Rwandan Patriotic Front politicians and the 600 man protection force (3BN) from 28th December 1993 as they were in the preparations for the installation of Broad Based Transitional Government and the National Transitional Assembly and these 600 man protection force the (3BN) were the ones given the order first on 07/04/1994 by the RPA Chairman of High Command Major General Paul Kagame to break out from their initial positions defend themselves and rescue victims of Genocide in their vicinity when campaign against Genocide began

CAG Museum depicts in details how the Campaign Against Genocide Plan was executed by RPF/A following the withdrawal of UN troops leaving the targeted Tutsi under the mercy of the Genocidaires and how only the RPF/A forces who were in the war of liberation took the unilateral decision to stop Genocide, Rescue victims of Genocide and defeat the Genocidal forces. This CAG Museum also has its outer part comprised of monuments including that of the 12.7mm Machine Gun that helped in containing the advancing genocidal forces.

You will break off for lunch at Hotel des mille Collines – After your relaxed lunch, proceed to visit Kimironko market & Inema art center

Kimironko Market:(Est. Visit Time 30min)

Kimironko market is one of the largest local markets in Kigali, where you will meet our local vegetable vendors and behold the succulent fruit and vegetables and try out your bargaining power at food shopping in Kigali. Here you will get the opportunity to get a feeling of how an African market operates. Thereafter, you will conclude the city tour with a visit to “Gahaya Gifted Hands”, a place where art and design have empowered over 4,000 women through weaving and jewelry making for international high-end stores like Macy’s in the USA

Inema art center: (Est. Visit Time 30min)

For the Art and Culture lovers, Mist safaris has collaborated with highly esteemed Arts Centre in Kigali/ Rwanda to present an entertainment filled visit to the art shops complete with inspiring works that consist of traditional Rwandese culture, craft and jewelry .You will shop souvenirs to take home for your loved ones. This evening you will return to the guesthouse freshen up and transfer to Repub for dinner before your transfer to the airport for your outbound flight.
