16th kwita izina was held on world gorilla’s day 24th September 2020 online where 24 baby gorillas Were given names under the theme of conservation and suitable tourism, the naming ceremony was conducted by frontlines of conservation where Names were park rangers, guides, wardens, trackers, veterinary and doctors.

Virtually kwita izina is a cultural tradition ceremony where new born baby gorillas are given names easily, it was launched in 2005 where rangers could find way to monitor different gorilla families. Now 15 years later it turned into an international ceremony that raises money for the protection and expansion of the gorilla’s habitat And raises awareness for conservation of different habitants, species and diverse bio-diversity in the region and contribution to the development and welfare of the communities living around the national park (10% revenues go to the surrounding communities, which doubled from 5 percent initially).
